Manager - Benefits and Compensation
The Benefits and Compensation Manager will collaborate across the human resource department to build out and manage a variety of programs, policies, and initiatives and will set expectations and priorities to deliver the best employee experience. The Benefits and Compensation Manager will handle all elements of new hire onboarding and employee offboarding in partnership with other internal teams, ensuring a superior experience for all new hires by providing consistent experiences across all business segments in Nordic’s global enterprise. The Benefits and Compensation Manager will also oversee compliance, vendor relationships, and benefit program administration. Additionally, they will maintain our company pay philosophy and policies.
Key Responsibilities
The Benefits and Compensation Manager's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and leading team members, supporting efficiency and team goals while ensuring alignment with Nordic vision
- Collaborating across departments and teams to lead onboarding and offboarding business operations and initiatives
- Overseeing department data integrity in our systems and providing oversight of reporting and auditing requests
- Partnering with internal teams to build out policies and processes as we enter new geographies
- Overseeing management of compensation programs, including oversight of job design and pricing, pay program design, and ensuring our pay policies comply with changing state and federal laws and regulations
- Developing, leading, and overseeing benefit programs based on requirements and trends, as well as administering operations of health and welfare plans including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending, life insurance, disability insurance, EAP, wellness, and employee perks
- Managing compliance for leave administration, including: FMLA, Medical LOA, STD
- Managing local and global benefit broker relationships
- Overseeing vendor management, contracting, and administration within the human resources department for hiring and onboarding, health and welfare, retirement, background screening, pre-employment physicals, drug testing, and other client-requested medical testing programs and services
- Acting as primary point of contact for all related vendors regarding administrative matters or escalated service issues
- Supporting human resource and talent teams with organizational changes and merger and acquisitions activities
- Partnering with talent, managers, employees/candidates, and external immigration attorneys on all immigration matters
Skills and Experience
- Must demonstrate and embody Nordic’s maxims
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years related human resources compliance and benefits administration experience required, global experience a plus
- 2+ years related human resources management experience preferred
- CEBS or HR certification preferred
- 1-3 years of experience with an understanding of immigration practices and policies, including visa categories, green cards, and petitions
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Strong ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting customer service commitments and project timelines
- Maintains a continuous improvement mindset, consistently looking for ways to deliver a stronger, more efficient employee experience
- Experience utilizing HR, CRM, or ATS technologies, (e.g., Workday, NetSuite or similar)
Compensation and Additional Details
- Position is located at the Nordic home office in Madison, WI
- Occasional travel up to 5% of the time
- This role supports employees and leaders across the organization, which requires flexibility as occasional meetings may occur outside of normal business hours
